Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden, a vocal anti-ICE Democrat, got utterly exposed during a 2026 state oversight hearing. When GOP Rep. Allen Chesser asked a simple fifth-grade civics question—what branch of government do you operate under?—McFadden’s clueless response was “Mecklenburg County.”
He could not even name the three branches—executive, legislative, and judicial—afterward. This came from the top law enforcement official in a county plagued by crime and sanctuary-style policies.
