SHOTS FIRED: Democrat Leaders Walz and Ellison Hit With…

Florida Republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna has submitted formal criminal referrals to the U.S. Department of Justice is targeting none other than Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison.

These are not symbolic gestures. Luna has accused the state’s top Democratic officials of criminal complicity in one of the largest state-level fraud scandals in recent memory, involving the misuse of federal funds under their watch.

The referrals allege possible violations of federal law, including conspiracy to defraud the United States and obstruction of federal oversight.

Luna’s action marks a line in the sand: Democrats can no longer hide behind their offices to evade accountability for systemic corruption. According to her written communications with the DOJ, both Walz and Ellison deliberately ignored serious and repeated warning signs of misconduct involving federal money flowing into Minnesota’s social service networks.

The Justice Department has officially confirmed receipt of the referrals, though they have yet to comment publicly on any investigations. For Luna and countless Americans demanding transparency and integrity in government, that confirmation is the first step in what must be a full reckoning.

Luna’s criminal referrals were timed to coincide with a bombshell House Oversight Committee hearing that peeled back the layers of bureaucratic negligence and willful blindness by Minnesota’s leadership. According to Luna, the testimony revealed enough evidence to believe both Walz and Ellison were “knowingly complicit in a Somali fraud scheme” that fleeced the American taxpayer.

The facts are not in dispute. Federal investigators have long been probing Minnesota’s social services infrastructure over allegations of widespread abuse, fraudulent contracts, and misappropriated child care and Medicaid funds. What Luna has added is a political dimension—pointing to top-level enablers who allegedly allowed the rot to flourish.

These aren’t just mistakes or oversights. Luna’s referrals outline what she sees as deliberate obstruction and political shielding of corrupt networks operating in plain sight. And while Walz and Ellison may claim ignorance, Luna argues that the paper trail and internal warnings prove otherwise.

Governor Walz, who just announced he will not seek a third term amid growing political pressure, has refused to answer directly for the systemic failures under his leadership. Likewise, Keith Ellison—the progressive darling of the radical left—has remained silent as serious allegations pile up at his doorstep.

But Luna isn’t backing down. In her letters, she emphasized that this is about much more than state politics. It’s about protecting the integrity of federal programs that are being looted while public officials look the other way.

Her referrals cite multiple federal statutes, including Title 18 violations that cover fraud against the United States, aiding and abetting criminal conduct, and conspiracies to obstruct lawful federal investigations. If the DOJ takes this seriously, prosecutions are not off the table.

This comes at a time when confidence in law enforcement institutions is already strained due to highly visible failures and politically motivated double standards. Luna’s push serves as a call for equal application of the law—even when Democrats are the ones in the crosshairs.

The massive fraud in Minnesota, which has been linked to hundreds of millions of dollars in misspent federal funds, was widely known in state circles before it reached the national stage. That makes the silence from Walz and Ellison even more disturbing.

If senior leadership knew—or worse, helped bury the evidence—then criminal prosecution is not only justified, it’s essential to restoring faith in government. As Luna pointed out in her statement, “We cannot allow federal funds to be funneled into criminal operations under the protection of corrupt public officials.”

That sentiment is shared by Americans across the country who are fed up with the two-tiered system of justice. Conservatives have long warned that leftist governance in blue states enables fraud, corruption, and abuse of federal programs. This scandal is a textbook example.

Luna’s actions reflect what many in the America First movement have been demanding for years: fearless leadership willing to challenge entrenched corruption and take action regardless of the political cost. Her move has already sent shockwaves through D.C. and is earning her praise from grassroots conservatives.

The question now shifts to Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Justice Department. Will they pursue the evidence? Or will this be swept under the rug like so many Democrat scandals before it?

If the DOJ fails to act, it will only confirm what millions already suspect—that the Biden-era justice system functions as a partisan shield for Democrats and a weapon against Republicans. But if they move forward with an investigation and bring charges where warranted, it could set a powerful precedent.

At stake is not just justice for Minnesota taxpayers. It’s about restoring the rule of law across the country. Governors and attorneys general must be held accountable when they knowingly allow criminal networks to thrive under their protection.

Luna’s referrals come amid rising frustration nationwide with the lack of consequences for corrupt public servants. From sanctuary city policies to election fraud cover-ups, Americans are demanding that political elites be held to the same legal standards as everyone else.
